Ubiquitous Angry Birds

Angry Birds are everywhere
How did it happen so fast?  Has anyone not heard of Angry Birds?

Well, possibly the remotest parts of our planet may not yet have succumbed but chances are you have played one of the many versions of Angry Birds online via your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Apparently NASA has engaged our feathered friends to help spread the message.

Rovio, the Finnish games company behind this overnight success, claims to have had 1.7 billion downloads of the series.

The characters are so popular that they have spawned a successful series of books and every kind of promotional merchandise.

Spreading the word still further, Angry Birds will be appearing in a series of TV episodes, one for each week of the year.  The episodes will be available through the Angry Birds Toons website and via the game downloads.  With such a huge established user base this TV show will have instant global distribution and the power to publicise Angry Birds across the planet.

Now how could anything have caught on so quickly and so extensively without the power of the world wide web?
