A neat Segway

Segway Cop
When the Segway arrived a few years back, I laughed.  I thought that this was another piece of technology bound for the basement by lunchtime Christmas Day.

What self-respecting person would ride one of these in a public area?  Well, at least in my part of the world, not many.

Then I saw them in use at an airport.  Rather than walk hundreds of metres around the terminal buildings, ground crew were using Segways.  OK, that's useful.  They still look pretty dorky though.

Things have moved on a bit since those first Segways arrived in 2001.

These off-road Segways are a different beast entirely.  They satisfy a basic need - they provide lots of fun and a bit of danger.  They've beefed up the engine to provide rapid acceleration, the chassis is stronger and thick tyres and big wheels allow manoevrability and make off-road use a reality.

Off road Segway
These are not just a cheap form of transport.  They now provide the thrills just as skateboards, ripsticks and BMX bikes do.  They challenge the rider to show off and invent moves that no-one else has thought up yet.  In a word, they have the thrill factor.

People will love your product if it makes them feel good.  They'll even forgive you for making them look like a melon as long as they're having fun.  Go Segway !
